Our Staff

Our Doctors

Dr. Sandra Tuominen:

Dr. Sandra Tuominen:

Dr. Tuominen founded Critter Care Pet Clinic in 1995 with a small staff and a big dream. Our clinic - and her collection of farm animals - has grown significantly over the years. As our main surgeon, she's brought advanced techniques to the Iron Range for the benefit of our patients and clients. When not helping pets at the clinic, she enjoys volunteer work at multiple locales including the Iron Range Dog Training Center and her church.

Dr. Maureen Wolfgram:

Dr. Maureen Wolfgram:

Dr. Wolfgram joined us in 2007. She is a talented diagnostician and her thorough medical work ups have benefited pets across the Iron Range and beyond. She loves to travel and experience new surroundings and cultures. We wish her all our best in her semi-retirement years, and we hope to see her around the clinic still working on the team occasionally as we share her with Dougherty Veterinary Clinic!

Our Managers

Bernice

Bernice:

Bernice joined the team before there was one!

She is Dr. Tuominen's mom and handled everything from the front desk to the checkbook back in the beginning in 1995. Now days in her semi-retirement, we only see her on Wednesday mornings, but we love when she brings in goodies and brightens up our day!

She and her husband Bob can be found at our team get-togethers; we hope that the right dog comes along to fill their hearts after they lost their beloved husky mix Mutti last year.

Jeanette

Jeanette:

Jeanette joined the team in 2005 (with a two year hiatus to attend the University of MN-Duluth). She works in the office with management duties and as a technician on the floor as part of the emergency team, aiding in 600 after hours emergency cases during her career with us.

Her idea of success in veterinary medicine is creating empowered clients through education and support, the prevention and relief of suffering in our patients, and dynamic staff supported to invest in themselves personally and professionally so they can have the most fulfilling careers possible. She loves her team more than they can imagine.

Linda

Linda:

Linda is our head receptionist and sister to our practice owner. She joined us in 2013. She keeps the front desk running smoothly and is the "keeper of the files"! She lives with her two rescue dogs Shadow and Sammy.... and a few cats we have sent home with her over the years! :) She's a great organizer and finisher around the clinic to keep us moving along and a "bulldog" who is always willing to help out anyone in a jam.

Receptionists

Kariann

Kariann:

Kariann has worked for us since 2012. She serves the team in a multitude of ways: receptionist, administrative assistant, IT support, lunch runner, and manufacture of smiles! She works behind the scenes on weekends and evenings on dozens of projects and is always willing to help with anything.

Misty

Misty:

Misty is a 15 year veteran and a pleasant efficiency machine at the front desk! She LOVES her dog and cat "children": Diesel, Jackson, Juicebox, Thermos, and Anakin. She keeps our lobby stocked with Lupine leashes and collars in her downtime. Although we share her with other employers, we love every chance we get to have her work with us!

Sheri

Sheri:

Sheri joined us in 2019 and recently got a new puppy (it's even cuter than the stuffed turtle in her picture; we promise!). We couldn't be happier for her and love her professional manner at the front desk!

Technicians

Breanne

Breanne:

Our 14 year veteran technician Breanne excels at the details of hospitalized patient care and surgical cases, is an amazing cat whisperer, and a very hard worker!

During her administrative time, you’ll find her keeping your annual vaccine reminders accurate and maintaining the safety of our radiology department.

Jen

Jen:

Jen is trusted by many clients for her thorough care of our patients. Her willingness to communicate and educate keeps owners feeling empowered with knowledge about their pet. A long range thinker, Jen’s practical wisdom has helped many pet owners through a difficult diagnosis or treatment.

Around being a busy mom and caring for multiple rescued pets of her own, you’ll see Jen assisting with inventory purchases and record keeping at the clinic.

Lizzy

Lizzy:

Lizzy is our efficient, calm under pressure, power house of a worker. She’s a little race car around the clinic giving patients excellent care even when we are exceptionally busy. Her sweet smile reassures clients their pet is in good hands!

In addition to her administrative time where you’ll find her keeping client educational literature in stock, Lizzy is one of the cornerstones of our emergency team. She has given up time with her new husband Rich to drive back in to work and help when your pet needs emergency care after normal business hours.

Jaime

Jaime:

Jaime has an empathetic and healing heart towards animals and is a valued resource for clients that have behavioral or training questions. She is great with our canine patients that are nervous or scared in a clinical setting!

Jaime’s administrative duties include keeping our medical equipment running smoothly, and she’s an active member of the after hours emergency team. “Off the field”, she loves football (Skol, Vikings!) and her kids. In case that’s not enough, she also works through Cloud 9 Pet Massage.

Megan

Megan:

Wise and caring Megan is always looking out for the welfare of our patients. Thorough and calm, she keeps her eye on the big picture and every patient’s best interest is her priority.

Dogs and cats aren’t the only thing she’s good at caring for though. Megan is an epitome of “team player” and is always looking out for the crew, whether that’s slowing down to train new staff or staying late to help the receptionists file.

In her administrative time, Megan maintains all of the prescription dog and cat food orders that so many of our patients depend upon. After hours, she has worked up many cases on the emergency team.

She's the proud dog mom of a three legged pup Kota Hope relinquished to the clinic last year.

Tiana

Tiana:

Tiana will soon be graduating from the Vermilion Community College Veterinary Technician program. She is a hard worker who keeps her calm and always maintains a great sense of humor while communicating clearly. She lives with her rescued cat Denz and her two dogs Brutus and Doogie Schnauzer!

Ashley

Ashley:

Ashley joined us in 2019 and will soon be graduating from Vermilion Community College as a veterinary technician. Her dream is to eventually go on to vet school and become a DVM. She is always up for expanding her knowledge base and never shies away from a challenge. She lives with her dog Lucy and rescue cat Jack.

Our Veterinary Assistants

Mallory

Mallory E.:

Mallory is a 15 year veteran of the Critter Care team and has worked as a veterinary assistant and receptionist. She is attending the Penn Foster veterinary technology program and is working towards her degree as a technician. Her positive attitude and problem solving mentality help to keep us all on the sunny side and we cannot imagine our lives without her in it.

Tina

Tina P.:

Tina is our "utility player" who juggles reception work and veterinary assistant duties with grace and ease - sometimes on the same shift! She is our cheerleader and our source for positive energy, always willing to help out wherever she can. Her love of pets is a cornerstone of her work with us and she can frequently be found singing to our clinic cats who [almost] adore her as much as we do!

Angelia

Angelia T.:

Angelia has been with us for three years and is part of the Penn Foster veterinary technology program, studying to be a technician. She loves - and owns - a wide variety of animals including horses, pot-bellied pigs, and goats. Her dream is to work in equine medicine and rehab one day.

Riley

Riley W.:

Riley is a freshman at U of MN Morris working towards vet school. She has worked with us for almost three years between her many other activities, and we love her work ethic and great attitude. She loves a wide variety of animals and has owned quite a few too! We look forward to having her back on the team every school break that we can.

Dee

Dee N.:

Dee never shirks from a hard or dirty job at the clinic and loves even the grouchiest patients! Her pack of dogs expanded this year when she took in her dad's canines and her doggie "siblings" keep her busy, busy, busy.

Lynsey

Lynsey S.:

Lynsey is a student through San Juan College's veterinary technician program and hopes to work in equine medicine one day. Her sweet smile and willing attitude gets things done around the clinic and client's love her bedside manner. She lives on a farm with a wide variety of animals she loves and cares for.

Allyson

Allyson W.:

Allyson joined us in 2019 and we love her work ethic and "can do" attitude. Her love of pets shines through in all she does and she is a "big dog" whisperer! A student of Vermilion Community College veterinary technology program, she wants to become a certified veterinary technician one day and we are so glad to be part of that journey.
